I kinda get the last few episodes because the throw back episodes shown there we're like 5-7 years apart from these episodes (still boring for most people that watch this far in a month) but cmon.. Is a episode nominated to throwbacks that happened 10 episodes ago really needed in the middle of the biggest battle yet? Imagine waiting 4 weeks for this fight to start just to get 80minutes of throwbacks lol
Also i know that these are listed as filler but this was still a horrible timing for filler

Now, that you've said it, I kinda get it that it must have been frustating for them. All the beautiful layering of stories, the fight, them assembling, declaring war against the World Government, Robin's VA's goosebump-giving "I want to live" quote, and whatnot. All those hype being ruined by these flashbacks is probably kinda annoying.

~This is the exact reason why I hate TOEI. Even though they got money, they didn't feel the need of reanimating the flashbacks at the least. They should've at least kept the hype they created, really sad tbh :/ They just loop many of the fight scenes, and do as less work as they possibly can. Trust me, One Piece was consistent with its popularity only because of its brilliant Voice Actors, and Oda's storytelling capabilities. TOEI didn't do justice to this anime at all. (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

Do you know that the manga and anime should take a certain gap between them? Compared to the current anime of One Piece the shouting and the staring contest of the OP in the past doesn't take a couple of episode unlike today, that's why the anime story that time is really close to the current story in the manga, that's why they had to throw some random fillers like this where they just cut some past clips and made them a flash back just to maintain that gap between the manga and the anime.
